BIO
Inspired by songwriter Babyface, with whom she shares her birthday, singer-songwriter and producer Dion lends her eclectic musical ear to songs that simply move her. Among her collection of cherished songs are More Than Words by Extreme, and Fast Car by Tracy Chapman.
Dion has poured her heart into writing and producing a retrospective body of work. Her warm, smooth, and unguarded vocals envelop listeners, inviting them on an intimate journey through her emotionally resonant soundscapes, weaving evocative and poetic storytelling with melancholic melodies. In her music, she lays herself bare, open and vulnerable, allowing the audience to connect with her most sacred experiences on a profound level; maybe a shared one. Recording a significant portion of her album at the iconic Abbey Road Studios, a dream come true for Dion, has further elevated her musical journey.
Raised in a strict Christian home and restricted from listening to secular music, Dion was influenced by Country and Western Christian Gospel music where she became obsessed with the album This Is Another Day by Andraé Crouch & The Disciples. Here she found solace in the sweet melodies and harmonies as she’d lay on the carpet listening to her Dad’s vinyls on the record player. Little did she know that singing in the small church choir from an early age and listening to those records would shape her musical palette and provide the foundation to solidify her love for music and affirm her desire to pursue it as a career.
The turning point in Dion's musical journey came when she joined the multi-platinum award-winning pop group Big Brovaz, achieving remarkable success, selling millions of records worldwide, performing at renowned events like Party in the Park, V Festival and The Brits with a cameo appearance in the hit movie Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed. She later moved to Australia, collaborating with artists and immersing herself in the world of Library Music.
Dion's sold out headline show on the 21st of September was another momentous event where she showcased her unique musical vision and connected intimately with her fans. This highly anticipated performance was an opportunity to experience Dion's immense talent and witness the evolution of her solo career.
"I appreciate artists but am more of a fan of lyrics, concepts, melodies and rhythms that make me feel something visceral. The beauty of music lies in the conversations it creates within us and how we all hear, feel and perceive it". Dion
